Get your motor runnin'
Head out on the highway
Lookin' for adventure
And whatever comes our way
Born to be wild
Those "Born to Be Wild" lyrics might not have had truckers in mind, but they seem appropo today as our seven CDL or Bust students are expected to venture off the practice range and head out on the highway for the first time.
Instructor Bob Cross tells us that for the next week or so, the students will spend a half day in their "Student Driver" trucks with an instructor on the highways around the Truck America Training School in Shepherdsville, Kentucky.;
The class will gather at 6:30 a.m. per usual, and be split into two groups. About 8 a.m. one group will head out on the road, the other group will stay behind on the range to polish its backing maneuvers. After lunch, the groups will flip assignments.
At lunch time we hope to have our Skype connection running more smoothly and we'll talk with Ryan Strange and Joey Wilson Jr. about their experiences so far. On Tuesday Skype wasn't feeling very well and we had to resort to recording telephone conversations. Those video interviews will be posted in the afternoon, along with more photos and other content.
Now just try to get that song out of your head...
